My name is John Kennedy. After 35 years with the same company, I retired from the consulting engineering profession at the end of 2025.
I live in Lee’s Summit, a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. In retirement, I’ve turned my attention to something I’ve always loved but never had time to fully pursue: writing songs.
Let me be clear—I’m not a musician. I admire anyone who can truly sing or play an instrument. I’ve tried learning guitar and quickly discovered it’s hard. I won’t be the guy on stage. But I like to think I can write.
During my working years, I often passed the time in hotel rooms putting words to paper. By the time I retired, I had a handful of songs already written and plenty more ideas waiting their turn. I’ve since focused on shaping those lyrics into something honest and worth sharing.
I write story-driven songs with emotion at the center—often leaning toward a folk or country edge. If you’re a musician looking for material that feels lived-in, sincere, and ready to make your own, I hope you’ll find something here that speaks to you.
If you do, I’d be glad to connect.
Thanks, John Kennedy
